GREAT ROOM
This Great Room started out very dated. For the renovations the clients had their hearts set on a modern European style and a functional space. The zones in the redesigning of the space remained the same but their functionality, practicality, and style were altered to turn this great room into an entirely new space.
The style the clients were looking for was achieved by selecting the proper furniture and finishes to allow the room to tell a story. The light herringbone flooring adds subtle detail and dimension to the floor, but is accompanied by contrast on the stairs by choosing for the risers to be white, as well as selecting black furniture. The European feel is seen in the simple wrought iron railing and wicker coffee table.
Original Site Photos
When comparing the original site photos to the new design, design modifications were made to make the room more spacious and functional. A circular dining table was selected to create radial balance, picking up from the round wicker coffee table and round wrought iron mirror in the entrance. The beautiful large window in the living area was turned into a bench seat where one can sit back, relax, and enjoy some natural sunlight. To maximize space further the chunky entry table was removed and replaced by a skinnier console table. Along with the selected materials and furniture the clients were provided a space that adhered to the modern European style they hoped for and a story to go along with it.
